BVTV Student News Team receives national awards
The 2007-08 Student News Team recently traveled to
The STN Excellence Award was presented to the students for their production of Good Morning Blue Valley in the Twice-monthly category. This award recognizes "superior achievement in scholastic broadcasting" and is STN's highest honor for overall programs. Broadcasting professionals serve as judges for this competition.
The Student News Team also earned a third place award in the Broadcast Journalism category - Blue Division in the Sweet 16 contest. On the day before the convention begins, each team selects a one-word theme around which to produce an entire show and its stories in sixteen hours. The Student News Team was one of 70 teams in this contest, which also included a Movie Production category.
BV North High seniors Sydney Hendrick and Stephanie Rosen earned honorable mention kudos for their entry in the Spot Feature on-site contest.
STN is a national, non-profit organization that brings schools together, and supports and promotes scholastic television with active e-groups, summer workshops, and challenging contests. For more information, check out their web page at www.studenttelevision.com
