STN bestows awards on BVTV's Broadcast Technology program

The Student Television Network (STN) recently announced the winning entries in the 2005 STN Spring Nationals competition. Students in the Blue Valley Schools Broadcast Technology Program (BVTV18) earned three top honors.

Winning first place in the  Feature / Human Interest Story category, BVN seniors Amanda Peterson, Courtney Maphies, and Derrick Maples told how Linda Crosthwait, a Lakewood Middle School teacher, returned to the sport she loves after a severe injury.

BVHS seniors Ryan Wallace and Graham Yohe won first place in the Sports Feature category.  Their story told how twin wrestlers, Grant and Keaton Baker of Blue Valley High, have excelled in this sport with support from each other and from their family.
 
The Student News Team took third place in the Weekly Show category for an edition of Good Morning, Blue Valley.  Members of the 2004-05 Student News Team are:  Dustin Allen, Jennifer Bantham, Kristen Burchett, Brooke Carney, Alex Hughes, Peter Kellerman, Courtney Maphies, Derrick Maples, Hallie Martin, Cecily Miller, Blaine Muhl, Amanda Peterson, Ally Ross, Jennifer Roth, Mike Schober, Adam Squitieri, Ryan Wallace, and Graham Yohe.

Members of the BVTV Student News Team learn the advanced skills necessary as reporters and operators of studio and field equipment through hands-on training and practical application. Student productions include a one-hour live weekly news show, Good Morning, Blue Valley. Blueprints, a news magazine, incorporates feature stories about the programs and people within the schools.
